Fanni Ijäs is a Finnish dancer, choreographer and dance teacher based in Stockholm, Sweden. Her practise is rooted in house dance and club culture and explores how their social and cultural traditions could function as a starting point for creating work for different contexts. The central themes of her work are the self-realizing power of dance and the coexistence of the mundane and extraordinary.
Her work in the dance field consists of working in performative contexts, teaching dance and dance didactics, and organizing as well as practicing house dance in clubs, jams and battles. Ijäs has a BA in Dance Pedagogy from University of Dance and Circus (Sweden) and has studied at Ecole des Sables (Senegal). She is also the founding member of house dance collective De La Vibe.
